In order to create a year-round skill development program that your players can do in the off-season (and you can implement into your practices during the season), you need to prioritize what skills are most important and drill them as efficiently as possible.

In this video, Mike Procopio shows you the type of training sessions he runs with the highest-level basketball players in the world. These skill sessions are short and fast-paced so your players can maximize their repetitions in as little time as possible. This video is not going to waste your time with drills or skills that have little carryover to the game. Instead, you'll see the most critical offensive skills needed to excel as a perimeter player at any level of competition.

Ball Handling

While there are countless dribble moves your players could learn, very few are practical on a regular basis in game situations. Coach Procopio has refined this list of moves to the absolute essentials your players should focus on developing. Doing these five dribble movements in a stationary ball handling workout will improve the ability of your players to control the ball on the court by creating a more powerful and tighter handle.

Footwork

Being able to get open or quickly get a shot off depends all on footwork. Coach Procopio meticulously covers footwork that allows for catch and shoot, dribble drive, and jab step opportunities while minimizing the risk of traveling. Being consistent with your footwork prevents mistakes. Having the repeatable footwork for each of these attacks keeps the defense on its heels and allows a player to take advantage of however the defense chooses to defend..

If you want your perimeter player to be an offensive threat, they will need to be able to stretch the floor and create their own shot. Procopio shows you how he expands the scoring ability of his players with simple fundamentals rather than developing an array of fancy moves. You will learn Procopio's three keys to great shooting and how to integrate these into any type of shot your players might take, such as catch and shoot jump shots, pull-up jumpers off ball screens, and shooting on the move.

Coach Procopio also demonstrates how you can create space for your shot with step back jumpers or gain an advantage with ball and foot fakes in the triple threat.

A must-have scoring move for smaller players is the floater. Coach Procopio explains how to execute this move in addition to showing you the ideal locations where this type of shot should be taken in a game. These fundamentals will help your players score efficiently from anywhere on the court in any type of offense.

Weak Hand Training

Improving the effectiveness of your players' weak hands will double your team's scoring ability! This video will give you a short training routine that could easily be done in practice on a regular basis to dramatically improve your players' confidence in using both hands to score around the rim. Your players will learn how to finish with multiple types of reverse layups, jump hooks, scoops, and floaters all using their non-dominant hand.

Building a complete wing player is vital to any successful program. Coach Procopio is a master at developing elite players and continuing to make them better. His proven drills and techniques will help you improve your players immediately!

"Great workout. Love how coach explains each detail so players are able to understand their mistakes and make corrections. Weak hand development drills were a great addition!" - Customer Review
